
Located on the banks of the Cher River, in a preserved environment, the Abbey of Noirlac unfolds nearly nine centuries of rich and often tormented history. Today, in a perfectly restored monument, it welcomes visitors to discover its architecture of light. As a cultural center, it offers several artistic events throughout the year.

Medieval castle built in the 14th century on the site of a 12th century fortress, in the middle of the village of Ainay-le-Vieil, in the Cher department.
Since 1467, the castle remains in the same family. Three generations in a row, it is transmitted by women, some of whose alliances are both prestigious and known. The current owners count among their ancestors Jean-Baptiste Colbert, minister of Louis XIV.
Nicknamed "little Carcassonne" because of its circular fortified enclosure, the castle of Ainay-le-Vieil is now part of the Jacques Coeur tourist route.

The lake of Virlay is a pleasant place to rest, to relax and to practice sports activities in a green setting: sailing, canoeing, pedal boat, fishing, hiking, volleyball, badminton and petanque. The lake of Virlay is classified in part in Natura 2000 zone.
